Hoia Baciu is one of the world’s most haunted forests. It’s located 13 kilometers away from Cluj-Napoca. The so-called ‘The Bermuda triangle of Romania’ has a circumference of 250 hectares.
For years it’s been famous for its most peculiar and terrifying stories – and now known as the most haunted forest in Romania. Some say that the reason for the happenings arises from something supernatural. People have seen appearances like indefinable light rays, ghosts, aliens, and UFO’s.
Hoia Baciu Forest: History
The Hoia Baciu Forest really started to get famous when biologist Alexandru Sift photographed something moving and luminous that he saw above the forest in the 1960s.
After this inexplicable event, several other strange stories soon came to light. There was a five-year-old girl missing and she was found five years later.
She didn’t have any clue where she had been and she was wearing the same clothes while she didn’t look a day older.
There was also a story of a shepherd with his two hundred sheep who went missing in the forest and was never seen and found ever again.
Over the years there have been lots of reports from people who came out of the forest with burns, severe rashes, headaches, and high fever which they didn’t have before.
Because of all these very unexplained events, it is and was very interesting for all kinds of investigators to find out what was really happening in Hoia Baciu and why. Studies have shown that there are found a higher level of radioactivity which is produced by natural uranium present in the subsoil.
A Strange Phenomenon (Horia Baciu Forest Location)
The Haunted forest is well known for its weird and unusual-shaped trees.
The trees seem very young while they are already more than two hundred years old. Even these trees hold an enigma.
According to the reports, all the unexplainable happenings and activities seem to be concentrated in a specific area in the forest called Poiana Rotunda which is situated in the southwest border of the forest.
What is very striking is that this place is formed in a circle that’s free of vegetation.
Biologists tested the soil in the circle and showed that there weren’t any anomalies that would prevent the growth of any plant life.
Nowadays all the investigators haven’t been able to explain all these strange but unique happenings.
For the real daredevils there are some night tours you can book where you visit the forest in the dark looking for some paranormal activity. And for the less tough ones among us there’s also a day variant.
On the other side
Luckily most of the visitors that come out of the forest, unharmed and with a normal and good experience, are sometimes disappointed that they didn’t experience unusual stuff.
So besides thrill-seeking the forest is very popular among hikers and other nature lovers while it also provides you with a good spot to have a picnic or BBQ during a sunny day.
