1. Zwagers – Bos en Lommerplantsoen
Nieuw West – Bos en Lommer
At Zwagers, quality and sustainability are very important. They don’t like to waste food so that’s why they love to fry their fries with the peel to make sure there’s as little waste as possible.
The sustainability lies also in buying local. So they buy their satay and burgers at their local butcher (top-notch quality) and their potatoes from the potato farm in Amsterdam.
Be aware that they only provide takeaway service, but around the corner, you can find Erasmus park where you have enough beautiful spots to sit.

2. Fabel Friet – Runstraat
De Jordaan
Fabel Friet is run by two guys, Floris and Abel, and is located on 9 street – one of the coziest shopping streets of Amsterdam. Their store looks super clean and new.
What makes them unique from the other snack bars is that they have fries with basil mayonnaise and parmesan cheese topping that’s amazing!
Fun fact: According to Mokum Magazine (Amsterdam magazine) they have the best fries of Amsterdam.

3. Frites & Frites – Kinkerstraat
Amsterdam Oud-West
Located at the beginning of the Kinkerstraat, the street that connects the center of Amsterdam with Amsterdam – West.
The Kinkerstraat is a very long shopping street where you can find different types of small restaurants with different kinds of cuisines but also coffee places, the Ten Kate market, and tattoo shops.
Frites and Frites, when it comes to a classic Dutch snackbar.
In my opinion, the best one when I look at price, cleanliness, customer friendly, location, and of course the quality of the fries themselves!

4. Heertje Friet – Herengracht
De Jordaan
Located at the most beautiful canals of Amsterdam, you can find Heertje Friet, called after the Herengracht; the name of the street. The snackbar has a very modern look but serves high-quality homemade fries served in a cone (super authentic!).
The thing that makes Heertje Friet a bit more special than other Snackbars is that they have several kinds of croquettes and bitterballs, which are very hard to find like Shrimp croquettes and Cheese bitterballs.

5. Eiburgh Snacks – Zuiderzeeweg
Amsterdam Oost
Eiburgh Snacks is very interesting snackbar. It’s located on a kind of island but officially belongs to Amsterdam Oost. It’s not the most typical snack bar because the snackbar itself has a large open roof and a green environment.
It has a bit of an alternative vibe to it.
They deep fry their own homemade fries in ox white. It’s a kind of animal fat that makes the fries super tasty and crispy!
It’s a very old skool, traditional dutch way of frying. So not really a recommendation if you are a vegetarian.
They make their own stew that’s really finger-licking good.
Fun fact: The potatoes are peeled by an 80-year-old man named Jules from Belgium.
6. Par Hasard – Ceintuurbaan
De Pijp
Par Hasard is a snack bar but also a restaurant where you can eat several courses.
What’s so nice about this is that you can take your time and sit as you would normally do when you go out to eat dinner and order a good wine or beer. How amazing is that!
Their snacks and fries are super good quality and served in a very nice way.
They have a large variety on the menu. You can order even fresh Kibbeling of Fish and Chips. They make their own fries and sauces themselves. plus points!
Fun fact: According to AD (dutch newspaper) they have the best fries of Amsterdam 2022.

7. Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx – Voetboogstraat
Amsterdam City Center
Since 1957 they are very well known for their real Flemish fries. They are located next to the most famous shopping street in Amsterdam, the Kalverstraat. They are known for the various different sauces where you can pick from.

8. Pont Neuf – Buiksloterweg
Amsterdam Noord
Literally the first place you bump into when you take the ferry from Central Station to Amsterdam Noord, Buikersloterweg.
It’s a cute little stand where they offer you fresh homemade flemish fries in a cone that are golden brown and crispy.
What’s also interesting is that you can get there after your snack with a nice cup of Italian coffee.

9. Frietsteeg – Stadionkade
Amsterdam Zuid
Snackbar The Frietsteeg is super small and has a very authentic look from the outside with its white and red shutters.
It’s situated on the corner of a bridge that lies next to the Zuider Amstelkanaal. It has a very cute terrace with windshields and parasols where you can even sit when the weather isn’t that great. The mode-made fries are crunchy.
Unfortunately, they don’t really have their own thing that makes them special and the variety of snacks isn’t that large.

10. Snackbar Constantijn – Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat
Amsterdam Oud-West
This is what you call a real typical dutch snackbar.
It has a snack wall where you can first orientate what you want to eat and after you throw in a coin you can open the window of your chosen snack and take it out.
Besides the oldskool interior, the exterior is very interesting because of the real Amsterdam building and their sign on the wall.
Fun fact: According to Het Parool (Dutch newspaper) they are chosen to have the best peanut sauce in Amsterdam.

11. Pietersma Snacks – Albert Cuypstraat
De Pijp
Pietersma Snacks is a snackbar stand on one of the most famous markets of Amsterdam; De Albert Cuyp Market. The vibe is very Amsterdam and can be very touristic because it’s one of the most famous tourist attractions.
“What you see is what you get” is how I would describe Pietersma Snacks. The fries are just good. Not extremely good but just tasty.

WHAT TO AVOID:
Manneken Pis – Damrak
This place is what you call a real tourist trap.
There’s always a long queue, and in my opinion, the prices of the fries were very hard to find. They were nowhere to be found on their online menu, but later I found out why.
Because for a small portion of fries you pay 4,25 euros and a portion of one sauce is 1,25. That’s 2 euros more expensive than the average portion of fries you find in Amsterdam.
Besides that, the money is definitely not worth it because the snackbar doesn’t have anything special like for example home-made fries.
