If you’re looking to escape the city and go off-grid for a night or for a long weekend, we are here to help.
We’ve done our research, asked our local friends for their tips and recommendations, and personally tried a few cabins in the Netherlands where you can enjoy nature and just recharge.
Whether it’s a cabin, a suite, or a tiny house in the woods, by the lake, or in an old-fashioned village, we have great picks.
From “back to basics” experiences to the ultimate luxurious stays, we’ll share with you our favorite 7 places to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy a romantic getaway.
For us, personally, comfort and a very well-cleaned space are extremely important.
When we want to escape from our daily busy life, we just want to chill, relax, admire nature and not worry about cleaning the place.
We looked at prices also, to make sure you get the best value for your money.
We read hundreds of reviews and talked with the landlords to ensure we give you the best recommendations and up-to-date information for your next 2023’ getaway.

7 Best Cabins in the Woods | The Netherlands Edition
1. Cuber Suites
If you have access to a slightly higher budget and want to make sure you’ll have a seamless, high-end, and unforgettable experience in nature, Cuber Suits is our #1 recommendation.
You get a smooth immersive experience in nature, right in the Veluwe woods.
Shower under the sky, enjoy the modern & (extremely clean) interior and sleep in a bed of luxury and comfort while viewing the sky through the glass roof.
This luxury experience will ensure you and your partner will get everything you pay for.
If you’re planning a surprise for your loved one, you can’t go wrong with these suits.
Start your morning with a big cup of coffee (or tea!) right on the terrace by the outdoor fireplace.
Depending on the package you pick, you can have access to either a private Sauna (barrel style) with a porch and dressing room, or an outdoor Hot Tub.
You’ll need to heat it with the wood you’ll split with the provided handaxe – very rustic and fun.
Another unique thing that we love is that you control your booking and your cabin with their Cuber App.
You’ll need the app to arrange everything: from check-in, locking and unlocking the doors, setting the temperature, ordering room service, renting e-bikes, and more!
2. Nature house in Sint Michielsgestel
Escape in this gorgeous, cozy, and heavenly oasis, and enjoy a luxurious – yet sustainable – experience with your loved one.
Located in the middle of a meadow near ‘s-Hertogenbosch, you’ll find this beautiful property.
It comes with a hot tub and private sauna, wood stove, retro music speaker, lounge beds, heated bathroom, and lots of cozy outdoor seating areas & gardens.
Play games, read by the campfire, have breakfast in the garden and why not, you can also book a massage, vegetarian dinner or a walk with the alpacas.
You’re booking directly with the landlord who will make sure you have the best experience.
3. Natuurhuisje in Toldijk
We love this glamping accommodation, right in the middle of a beautiful meadow where you can enjoy privacy, and fresh air, and make beautiful memories with your partner, friends, or family.
It’s a luxurious “tent” where you have all the facilities from a fully equipped kitchen, fridge, freezer, wooden shower, and a clean rustic compost toilet.
You get luxury bedding sheets, bathrobes, and towels, plus scented care products, and on top coffee, tea, sugar, and spices if you’re in the mood to cook.
4. Unbound (Best in Amsterdam)
If you’re looking for an “off-grid but still in the city” luxurious experience right in the capital of the Netherlands, Unbound is a great place to go.
It’s a boutique hotel with luxury cabins, located in Amsterdam West.
You have access to deluxe suites and cabins, a communal garden, a restaurant, and a bar.
Unwind and relax in their Barrel sauna that you can enjoy all by yourself (you need to reserve it first, but you don’t pay extra).
Wifi, coffee, tea, and breakfast are included in the private cabin package.
What’s nice about it is that you can get food delivered right to your cabin, which is great if you’re looking to fully relax and you’re not in the mood to cook and do dishes
5. Natuurhuisje in Lekkerkerk
Escape the city and spend at least two nights in the middle of Kirmpenerwaard in Lekkerkerk, located just across the water (river. Lek. Rotterdam).
Perfect for a romantic getaway, as you get a bathtub with a view, and an infrared sauna.
Watch the sunrise, the birds, and the boats and recharge.
This cabin has more than 130 positive reviews from very satisfied guests.
The location is renowned for its windmills, and the landscape is simply breathtaking. The area is filled with pure nature mills, meadows with cows, and lots of cheese farms.
6. Natuurhuisje in Odoornerveen
This tiny cottage is located in Drenthe, in the middle of the forest and just by the lake.
Watch the sunset from the outdoor terrace and enjoy nature. You have access to a tiny kitchen with a small sink and refrigerator.
WiFi is available and the beds are incredibly comfortable.
The shower, toilet and other bathroom facilities you can find extremely close by in the building The Oak.
7. Cabiner
We heard so much about this place that we had to try it out – and we did!
With Cabiner you’re not only renting a cabin in the woods, you’re paying for a full off-grid experience.
As the cabin is in the middle of the woods, you can’t drive directly to it.
To reach your destination, you need to dive into the woods, hike with your backpacks and food, and navigate using an old-fashioned map (provided by Cabiner) and after a few kilometers you’ll find your cozy cabin.
Do you want water? You need to pump it first from the ground and make sure you start the fire to heat it up. You also need to cut your own wood, using the axe you find inside the cabin.
You really get a “back to basics” experience but definitely, the price is not basic.
We’re working on a full review about our own experience here. We share what we really loved and what we hated (spoiler alert: it was not that clean).
